About converting XAF
The Central African CFA franc is the common monetary unit used by the six members of the Central African Economic and Monetary Community. The Bank of Central African States, known as BEAC, issues the notes and manages the shared monetary framework. XAF is the ISO code used in exchange tables, payment records and software; it is not the code for the separate West African CFA franc. The unit is divided into 100 centimes in the currency standard, although ordinary cash prices are normally written in whole CFA francs. The regional nature of XAF is important: one national flag cannot represent the whole currency area.
Use this page when you want to start with Central African CFA francs and compare them with multiple target currencies. The separate Central African CFA Franc profile page covers the ISO code, symbol, issuer, countries and reference information.
The amounts shown here are reference calculations for comparison. Banks, cards and transfer services may apply their own spreads, fees and timing rules.
