About our data
How CurrencyHub Uses Exchange-Rate Data
A plain-language summary of what the displayed rates mean, where they come from and how CurrencyHub handles unavailable data.
Reference rates, not transaction quotes
CurrencyHub displays dated reference exchange rates for calculation and comparison. These rates are not offers to buy, sell or transfer currency. A bank, card issuer, cash exchange counter or transfer service can use different timing and customer pricing.
Provider and publication date
The current provider name and rate date are shown next to conversion results. CurrencyHub uses the publication date supplied by the provider and does not replace a missing provider date with the time a page was requested.
Validation and unavailable data
Provider responses are checked for recognized currency codes, positive numeric values and a valid publication date. When those checks fail and no valid approved snapshot is available, the page reports that rates are temporarily unavailable instead of presenting a made-up value.
Calculation method
Cross rates and inverse rates are calculated from the same validated snapshot so that related pages remain directionally consistent. Display rounding is applied after calculation; source values retain greater precision internally.
